The collaboration between local industry and educational institutions demonstrates how shared resources can enhance learning for both students and the community, stated a Lambton Kent District school board media release.
During the years, CF Industries has contributed financial support for a variety of WDSS initiatives, including the school-wide holiday dinner, hospitality and welding programs and the installation of water bottle filling stations, the school board said.
This year, funds will be directed toward enhancing the school’s science and horticulture programs, the release added.
CF Industries has organized summer staff barbeques to raise funds, resulting in more than $2,000 going to assist local student needs for food and hygiene items, the school board said. The company also awards two annual scholarships of $1,000 each to students in pursuit of post-secondary education.

“The partnership has fostered unique learning experiences for WDSS students,” the school board said.
Notable activities include Earth Day tree planting events and hands-on projects in construction classes, where students built bird houses, bat houses, duck nesting boxes, and a barn swallow shelter to support local wetlands, the release said. Cooperative education students have benefited from career panels featuring local industry experts, gaining insight into various career paths.
“We at WDSS are happy that our partnership with CF Industries has continued over the past few years,” said WDSS principal Jeremy Gower, in the release.
“CF has remained a true community partner, helping our students by making yearly donations to the school,” he added. “We appreciate how they have given back to their local community, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”
Davina Anderson, CF Industries manager of human resources, said in the release, “We take great pride in our partnership with WDSS.
“It is a privilege to give back to our community through both volunteer efforts and financial contributions that have a meaningful impact on students’ lives,” she added.
As CF Industries and WDSS celebrate this milestone, they look forward to continuing their collaboration, inspiring future generations of learners and leaders in the community.
