During the Afghanistan war, elite soldier Marcus Luttrell (Wahlberg) receives orders to capture or kill a Taliban leader with his team. However, when he and his comrades arrive at his hideout, they are caught in an ambush that costs several soldiers their lives. Luttrell tries, with the help of the local population, to escape the bloody massacre.
Lone Survivor based on the book of the same name by Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, who describes his experiences during a particularly fatal mission in 2005.
