Mark Cavendish won the 3rd stage of the Tour of Italy on Sunday May 8 at Balatonfüred, the last Hungarian stopover of the Giro, by settling the sprint of the peloton, still led in the general classification by Mathieu van der Poel. Faster than Arnaud Démare and Fernando Gaviria, the Briton signed his 16th stage success in the “corsa rosa” after 201 monotonous km around the emerald waters of Lake Balaton. After the day of rest and especially of transfer which will allow the runners to land in Catania, the road will rear up from Tuesday May 10 with a volcanic arrival at the top of Etna (22.8 km at 5.9% average gradient ).
