Mark Cavendish made history in the Tour de France

Road cyclist Mark Cavendish, known as the letter man, made history of the Tour de France on the fifth stage on Wednesday.

Mark Cavendish won the fifth stage of the Tour de France. It was the 35th stage victory of the Tour de France for the well-known sprinter, with which he overtook the five-time Tour winner Eddy Merckx’s in the number of stage wins (34).

The British cyclist is 39 years old, whose nickname is the Isle of Man express train.

Last year, Cavendish had to stop because of a crash. At the beginning of this year’s Tour, he suffered heat stroke in the first two hot stages in Italy.

Today, the Astana team protected Cavendish all the way to the finish with the support of five men.
