Marjo is involved in Kharkiv Zoo as a mentor of a European zoo association. The Ukrainian zoo has survived the war, so far. “It is near the Vredesplein and beautiful historic buildings. They have been destroyed, shot to pieces by rockets. The zoo is 50, 60 meters behind it, but no window has been broken there yet,” Marjo tells Radio M Utrecht. “But the problem plays out in a completely different way there.”
