On Monday, Norwegian Crown Princess Mette Marit’s son Marius Borg Høiby, 27, was arrested on suspicion of rape. This afternoon he was arrested.
– We have requested that he be detained for two weeks. The background is the risk of tampering with evidence, says police prosecutor Andreas Kruszewski after the custody proceedings, and continues:
– The reason for that is that we are investigating another rape.
Marius Borg Høiby, who was not present at the negotiations, denies the suspicions. His lawyer Øyvind Bratlien believes that the whole thing is a “catastrophic misjudgment” on the part of the prosecutor.
– Høiby does not recognize any of these events, says Bratlien to VG.
Details: Happened in the crown prince couple’s home
The second suspected rape must have been discovered during the investigation and that suspicion also concerns sexual intercourse with a woman who was unable to resist.
– We are now investigating it with full force. This means that we are now investigating two rapes, says Kruszewski.
According to information to The daily newspaper the rape is said to have taken place in Høiby’s home in Skaugum, where the crown prince couple also reside, at the end of September.
The first rape he was suspected of allegedly took place in Oslo earlier this year.
– What I can say about the incident is that the victim is a woman in her 20s, the police told VG on Tuesday.
Five plaintiffs
It was in August that the “bonus prince” was arrested for the first time, suspected of having been violent towards his then-girlfriend, as well as vandalism in an apartment. Høiby later admitted that he had committed violence against his girlfriend and that he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time.
Since then, several other ex-girlfriends have stepped forward and accused Marius Borg Høiby of physical and psychological violence. There are now a total of five female plaintiffs.
He is also suspected of having violated visiting and contact bans.
