The executive vice-president of reconquest has just been indicted for defamation. It will soon be judged by the Valencia Criminal Court.
The European deputy for the European Conservatives and Reformists (CRE) Marion Maréchal was indicted this Tuesday, March 11, 2025 for defamation according to information by here Drôme Ardèche. She had accused the local association Values and successwhich carries a Muslim school project in Valence (Drôme), to be affiliated with the Islamist movement of the “Muslim Brotherhood”. With the Dauphiné Libéré, the president of the association Mourad Jabri evokes an “irresponsible instrumentalization, which sparked a campaign of hatred and disinformation”.
At the beginning of October 2023, that which was also executive vice -president of reconquest – party chaired by Eric Zemmour – had assured on the set of CNews that the association in question had “the same objective as Daesh and al -Qaeda, that is to say impose sharia in the world”. “In Valencia, you have a mayor who tried to sell land to an association of the Muslim Brotherhood,” she also said, before sharing these remarks on her social networks.
Up to 12,000 euros fine
Now, the former Vaucluse deputy will be tried at the Valence Criminal Court and outstanding up to 12,000 euros fine. “This trial must have important repercussions on the way in which people of ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ can publicly deal with and have links with terrorists,” reacts the lawyer for the association, Me Jean-Yves Dupriez, in the columns from here Drôme Ardèche.
As a reminder, the association Values and success had filed a complaint on January 3, 2024 against Marion Maréchal for defamation. The file of the Muslim school in Valencia had notably been talked about since 2022 due to an extension project which would allow him to go under contract with the State. This extension had been canceled in October 2022 by the municipality. The latter mentioned reasons of town planning.
