The numbers may suggest that the match was a one-sided story, but the fact is that Keys was forced to save a total of nine break points in the meeting with reigning Wimbledon champion Vondrousova.
In the semifinals, the American is now pitted against future world number one, Aryna Sabalenka.
“There will be a lot of hard shots and not very many long duels,” said Marion Keys, who lost to Sabalenka at Wimbledon in July.
The 32-year-old Belarusian reached the semi-finals on Wednesday evening Swedish time after defeating Zheng Qinwen in straight sets. Also for that clash, the final numbers were written as 6–1, 6–4.
