The stage between Strzelin and Opole was almost flat and the sprinter teams had set their sights on it. The refugees were already caught up well before the finish. In the long sprint Kooij was able to stay behind Bram Welten for a long time and after passing the competitor he also stayed ahead of Van den Berg.
