Van Beukering was not the only candidate
Fifteen other people also saw themselves as mayor of Nieuwegein. Four women and twelve men were among the sixteen applicants. Some candidates were not affiliated with a political party, but most were. They are members of VVD, D66, CDA, PvdA, GroenLinks and a local party, the municipality announced at the beginning of this year.
