The Swedish skiing legend Gunde Swan has many strings to his lyre. In addition to having won four Olympic golds, seven World Cup golds and five overall victories in the World Cup in cross-country skiing, he has also managed to make a career in television.

Marie Svan on Gunde: “He has always been so very good”
One who has stood by his side for over 40 years is his wife Marie Swan. They met at the skiing gymnasium in Torsby when both were preparing for an elite career in the track. When the couple visited Nyhetsmorgon on Monday TV4 they told about life together, where Marie sometimes had to stand in her husband’s shadow.
When the presenter Rania Shemoun Olsson asks her if she knew early on that Gunde was destined to become a legend, she says that he was always good, which meant that it didn’t matter how she herself went on the ski track.
– Gunde has always been good. I don’t know if I thought of that. I must have been busy with my own career. Then he has always been so very good so it has not mattered what I have done, she explains and adds:
– I have two SM golds, the Vasaloppet and the girls’ vase, so it’s… Yes, ungrateful actually.
When the successes in the ski track and the television box succeeded each other, Gunde also had Marie by his side, even in some productions, something that means a lot to him.
– I get even better when Marie is with me, Gunde Svan concludes by saying.
