In the seventh season’s final episode of Mandelmann’s farm Gustav and Marie Mandelmann look back on their 25 years at Djupadal and also think about the future. Marie tells the program that everything has gone smoothly since they arrived here. And that it is time for them to think again for the future.
– You don’t have time to feel that you might be quite tired, says Marie in the program and continues:
– It is time to steer the ship up in order to face the future.
The change on the farm
It’s time to think about conserving energy and recovering more. Marie and Gustav decide to sell two-thirds of the cows. There were too many animals on the farm. Now they will change to having fewer mountain cows. It’s time to think about stamina as they both begin to enter the fall of old age.
In the program, they sit down by the lonely tree for a while to reflect on what they have achieved during their 25 years on the farm.
– Marie, think back to when we came here for the first time. We had such energy, says Gustav.
This is how they see the future
When they got to the farm, the lone tree and the hills were overgrown. With a lot of hard work, they have managed to transform the landscape into their own little paradise.
– Think how much fun we had. It’s fantastic to have a place on earth and we’ve had it, says Marie.
They are grateful for what they have achieved. And now they look ahead.
– We must let nature play first violin. Then we will pass it on to the next generation.
In the player above, you can see pictures of when Gustav and Marie started working on the farm – and hear them tell about what has been and the future.
The Mandelmann family consists of Marie, Gustav and their four children. They run the certified farm Djupadal in Österlen. In Mandelmann’s farm follows, the family shows their work on the farm – in everything from animal husbandry, construction, cooking and excursions.
