Ama Gloria, the film by young French filmmaker Marie Amachoukeli opened Critics’ Week in Cannes last May. A tender and heartbreaking film about a little girl separated from her nanny: Cléo is six years old, she is an orphan of mother and raised by her nanny Gloria, originally from Cape Verde. When Gloria learns that her mother is dead, and that she must return home, everyone in Cleo collapses.
