Mary Huntington was unlucky in the first event of the Austrian Götzis 7-match in the 100m hurdles. The Finnish rider bumped into another fence and fell miserably.
– I drifted too close to the first fence and crashed into it. I was too low at that point and couldn’t lift my hips up enough. I also hit another fence, and that lost my balance, Huntington repeated his unfortunate failure in the Sports Association’s announcement.
According to his own words, Huntington survived the accident “with a few bumps”. The pelvis was also twisted enough that Huntington does not continue the match.
– Now we’ll see when I will continue in terms of matches, Huntington and said that he is next going to race the length on June 7 at the GP competition in Jyväskylä.
Huntington clocked a promising 13.29 in Tampere last week, which was a couple of tenths short of his record.
Tampere’s last years have included a lot of adversity. The last time he finished the match was at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Huntington’s record is 6,339 taken four years ago. Because of that, he is number three in Finland’s all-time statistics.
Saga Vanninen was third in the same heat with a time of 13.48. He missed the record he ran last week by seven hundredths.
The legendary match event immediately saw a wild bet, when the USA Anna Hall won the event in the fences with his hard record of 12.75.
This is a competition record for the event.
