Maria Girlea the best Finn in table tennis Finlandia Open

Maria Girlea was sixth as the best Finn.

The international table tennis Finlandia Open was played over the weekend at Kisakallio Urheiluopisto, Lohja. 158 players from 27 European sports federations participated in the tournament.

The Finns did best Maria Girleawho advanced unbeaten in the women’s singles to Sunday’s semifinals, where Luxemburg’s Enisa Sadikovic was stronger directly 3–0.

– In the category of under-21s, the game did not go well, because I have been sick in the last couple of weeks. In women’s singles, I had a good chart. Saturday’s quarterfinal win was one of the best of my career. On the final day, fatigue was already taking its toll, but overall this was a successful race for me, Girlea was happy.

The 19-year-old from Jyväskylä’s final ranking in the chart of 56 players was sixth. The French won the women’s victory Jeanne Robbes.

The first prize in men’s singles was won by Holland Milo de Boer. Finland’s top two Benedek Oláh and Alex Naumi did not participate due to the overlapping of the Polish and Swedish series. Lassi Lehtola the ranking was 16th, while there were 100 players in the men’s singles.
