A female police officer was seriously injured on Thursday during an intervention in Ljusne, in the municipality of Söderhamn.
The injuries occurred when the police were checking a suspected stolen car. In connection with the check, a man in his 40s was arrested who then attacked in the back seat of the police car, with both punches and bites.
Without Maria Larsson’s and Sebastian Norling’s efforts, it could also have gone much worse. Ljusnebona saw what was happening from her window and rushed down to help.
– They had a hard time holding him down and I asked if they needed help and they said yes. Then we lay on him and held him down on the hill together with them until reinforcements arrived, says Maria and continues:
– You didn’t think simply, you just wanted to help.
The suspect is in custody following a decision by the prosecutor. The police officer who was seriously injured has been released from the hospital.
