Margarethe von Trotta began her career as an actress, including in Rainer Fassbinder and Volker Schlöndorff’s films. Among her own films are “Christa Klage’s Great Despair”, “Sisters”, “Rosa Luxemburg”, “The Long Silence” and the Bergman documentary “Searching for Ingmar Bergman”.
She has previously received, among other things, the Gothenburg Film Festival’s honorary prize. Her film “Two German Sisters” from 1981 was awarded the Golden Lion at the Cannes Film Festival.
The honorary award is presented during the EFA gala in Reykjavik on 10 December.
