Marelli interest from Tecnomeccanica and Niche Fusina for the Crevalcore

(Finance) – I’m from Piedmont Technomechanics (with offices in Novara and Moncalieri) e Niche Fusina (a multinational part of the American Dada group with factories on the outskirts of Venice, in Great Britain and France) the two companies that have presented expressions of interest for the Crevalcore production site to the Marelli group, in the Bolognese area. Marelli herself announced this at the end of today’s meeting at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy with trade unions, ministerial representatives and the Emilia Romagna Region.

The two companies presented offers, for now, non-binding. Binding proposals should be arrived at by the end of January, while the related industrial plans should reach the social partners by mid-February, so as to try to reach the definitive agreement by the beginning of March.

According to a joint note from the unions, Tecnomeccanica’s expected investment is approximately 25 million euros and at least 150 workers would be absorbed, while Niche Fusina’s investment is approximately 12-15 million euros and even in this case 150 people would be absorbed. In both projects Marelli should guarantee continuity of production during the first years.

It is also explained that to offer a solution to all 228 current employees, the Marelli management reiterates its willingness to transfer on a voluntary basis up to 68 workers in other plants of the group with a support incentive plus some in Bologna, to use the isopension tool to offer a 7-year pension slide and to open a voluntary and incentivized exit procedure.

A positive path has been taken to safeguard employment and ensure an industrial future for the Marelli plant in Crevalcore, in the Bologna area – commented the regional councilor for Economic Development and Work, Vincenzo Colla – We are confident that serious conditions have been created to reach a definitive solution to the crisis by the end of February.”

There next meeting it has been set for February 15th.

There crisis arrives five years after the transition from Stellantis to the Japanese Calsonic Kansei, controlled by the American fund KKRwhich took place in 2018. The site, with 228 employees, is now engaged in the production of air intake manifolds and aluminum die castings, both essential components for engines.
