The other week passed International Plan out with an important message after new scam calls are detected.
“It has recently come to our attention that certain people have been contacted by phone by an unknown sender who claims to be calling from Plan International and/or Klarna International. Sometimes in the same call, sometimes in two separate calls,” they write on their website.

Then they can call
Plan International is a global children’s rights organization that works to strengthen children’s rights and equality for girls. The organization operates in over 75 countries and focuses on fighting poverty, protecting children, and ensuring that all children, especially girls, have access to education, health and opportunities to shape their future.
Plan International points out in their message that they only call if a sponsor has actively contacted them or if there is something else specifically related to a sponsored child.

The calls, or the recorded voice messages as it has been in this case, have been about a payment request for a certain amount, usually in euros. The callers want you to click through if you want a refund or more information.
“However, we never pray people we call to identify themselves with e.g. BankID, and in the case of calls when people call us directly, we only ask you to key in the sponsor number or social security number. We also have no donors who contribute in euros, but all payments linked to Plan International Sweden are registered in Swedish kronor,” they write in their message.
They also urge everyone to get in touch if they suspect they have received a call as described above.
