Many patients around the country have to wait too long for a first contact with a specialist, Vårdföretagarna writes in a press release with reference to statistics from the regions.

During October this year, more than 30 percent of people of working age had waited longer than the 90 days that the care guarantee sets as a limit.

“It is not known how many of these have been forced to refrain from going to work as a result, but it is likely that many working days have been lost as a result of the care guarantee not being kept. Vårdföretagarna calls on the government to analyze and estimate the societal costs of the care queues,” writes Vårdföretagarna.

Region Norrbotten and Region Västerbotten had the worst figures, with 55 and 54 percent respectively waiting too long.

The statistics do not cover Region Stockholm, according to Vårdföretagarna.
