Roughly one in ten young people in Stockholm county who were in compulsory care last year are gang criminals, SVT Nyheter Stockholm’s review shows.
The group has increased from five percent in 2020 to nearly eleven percent last year. The review shows that 114 out of 1,590 young people who have been in compulsory care in the last three years under the Act with special provisions on the care of young people, LVU, have connections to gang crime.
Pernilla Leviner, professor of public law, believes that the increase i.a. may be due to clearer writing in judgments.
