About 60 people may have died when a passenger plane crashed in the state of São Paulo in Brazil.
The plane crashed in the Capela district in the city of Vinhedo with about 56,000 inhabitants. It was on its way to the city of Sāo Paulo from Cascavel. The plane was an ATR 72, a twin-engine turboprop aircraft, USA Today reports.
The airline Voepass says there were 62 people on board, of which four were pilots and staff. There is no word on whether any of them survived the crash.
It is also unclear whether people on the ground were affected when the plane crashed on Friday afternoon local time.
The plane is said to have gone into a spin before it crashed, and heavy clouds of fire and smoke are visible from the impact site.
