More than 30 people have been confirmed dead in western Indonesia after flash floods and mudslides of cold, volcanic material washed down by rain from the Marapi volcano.
It is mainly two districts, Agam and Tanah Datar in West Sumatra province that have been hit hardest, with homes, roads and mosques destroyed.
In addition to the dead, several people have been injured, and many are still missing.
The rainy season in Indonesia, which is often fraught with problems, usually falls between October and March. In March, 26 people died in landslides and floods in West Sumatra. In 2022, about 24,000 people were forced to evacuate and two children died in floods on the same island. Environmentalists have blamed logging for exacerbating the problems.
