At least 30 people were killed when a bus ran off the road in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.
The bus drove off a mountain road and down a mountainside, according to police.
– 30 passengers died in the accident caused by the driver’s carelessness when the bus ran into the guardrail, police spokesman Sunil Gupta told AFP.
– The bus slid around 250 meters down the mountain, he says further.
The number of traffic victims in India is among the highest in the world. Hundreds of thousands of people are killed and injured every year – partly due to careless driving and poorly maintained roads and vehicles.
