The cinema numbers from the weekend give a clear answer: Manta Manta 2 is a hit at the German box office, effortlessly placing John Wick: Chapter 4 ahead of the most recent top spot. As Blickpunkt:Film reports, Schweiger was able to get the best start of a German cinema film in 2023 with Manta Manta 2.

Specifically, the numbers look like this: 370,000 tickets were sold for Manta Manta 2 since Thursday, which is a gross of 3.7 million euros is equivalent to. The film ran in 636 cinemas and ended Schweiger’s long dry spell in cinemas. None of his films have made it to the top of the local cinema charts for five years.

Class reunion 1.0 was Schweiger’s last directing work with a number 1 placement. Manta Manta 2 even goes one step further: It’s Schweiger’s best start since 2014’s Honig im Kopf Re-enactment of the first Manta Manta thanks to 23,500 tickets sold with a gross of 150,000 euros.
Is Manta Manta 3 coming with and by Til Schweiger?
Although Manta Manta 2 failed the reviews, everything looks like Schweiger is back on the road to success. This raises the question of whether we can look forward to Manta Manta 3 in the future.
