Maurice Weber, a well-known German strategy expert on Twitch, is convinced that Manor Lords is the building game of the future. We’ll tell you on MeinMMO why he thinks so and what makes the game so special.
Who is the strategy expert? Maurice Weber, is an editor at GameStar and daily Twitch streamer since mid-2022. On Twitch he wins the hearts of viewers with his relaxed, cheeky manner. He has developed an unmistakable preference for demanding strategy games.

What defines Manor Lords? In Maurice Weber’s latest YouTube video, he describes Manor Lords as the “building game of the future” because it feels like the next evolutionary step for city building and strategy games. He admits that although the game has already received a lot of hype, it is still in early access and is therefore missing some content.
However, he emphasizes that if the planned features are implemented as well as what is already there, Manor Lords could be the best building game of all time.
“It’s wonderful how much attention to detail this game has at every turn.”
What positive things does Maurice say about the game? Maurice Weber that in this game you can build in a completely organic way, without rigid square grids.
This makes it possible to place lovely medieval villages in huge landscapes, which he particularly enjoys. He emphasizes that the buildings are built piece by piece, beam by beam, and that the construction process is beautifully designed. Maurice emphasizes: “It’s wonderful how much attention to detail this game has at every corner.”
Maurice is also impressed by the opportunity to roam the village like in a third-person role-playing game. You discover the many details that have been built into the game.
The streamer mentions that Manor Lords is a rather leisurely building game, but he enjoys it all the more because every milestone in the game has great significance.
He also loves the freedom of expanding the buildings. He says that in Manor Lords you can upgrade almost any residential building, for example with goat sheds, vegetable gardens or chicken coops. Later you could even add craftsmen’s quarters, such as a brewery, a shoemaker or a blacksmith’s shop.
Maurice says that the battles in Manor Lords are impressively animated and feature a varied combat system, with different stances, troop morale, exhaustion and friendly fire.
Unfortunately, there have been too few battles so far, which he again comments critically. The community has already criticized this, but the developer has announced that the focus will continue to be on city development.
The game has a major weakness, says Maurice
What negative things does he have to say? In his video, Maurice Weber not only highlights the positive aspects of Manor Lords, but also points out some weaknesses and errors. For example, he shows clips of villagers walking through walls.
He also mentions that there are tools in the production chain that are currently not used. In the demo they still had a function, but in Early Access this aspect doesn’t seem to be fully developed yet.
Despite these problems, Maurice emphasizes that the game is being actively developed. He himself played a review version before official early access and reported some errors that have since been fixed.
In addition to the minor errors, Maurice points out a deeper weakness of the game: the diminishing tension. He explains that even on the highest difficulty level, only the beginning is challenging and that the tension decreases significantly later. This could be an issue that requires more time to resolve.
Erik “Gronkh” Range, a well-known Twitch streamer, was also able to play Manor Lords in advance, but had a streak of bad luck that might even be useful to the developer.
“I’m already completely in love”
What conclusion does Maurice draw? In the conclusion of his video, Maurice Weber emphasizes that it’s not a bad thing that Manor Lords doesn’t have everything in early access. In his opinion, the game is still wonderful and offers a solid foundation for future content.
He is looking forward to the developments to come and mentions planned features such as AI enemy cities on the map, cavalry troops as well as walls and castles. All of these additions could provide more excitement and long-term motivation.
Maurice emphasizes that the game is far from the end of its journey and there is still plenty of room for growth. Despite its current shortcomings, Maurice Weber is already completely excited about Manor Lords and can’t wait to continue the game’s journey.
