(Finance) – The sudden crisis in Israel – and its possible consequences – complicate the plans of the Government grappling with athe Budget Law already downwards. Password seriousness and responsibility: with this objective, Premier Meloni called together the majority leaders in a meeting which was then extended to the group leaders of the House and Senate to establish the perimeter of the maneuver which will arrive in the Council of Ministers on Monday. Already reduced, the margins for “maneuver” have narrowed further, which is why the Prime Minister would like to proceed in an orderly and collaborative manner, reducingor at least the amendments. But – this is the reasoning – the conflict in the Middle East and its repercussions cannot be ignored. There is therefore room for a few targeted interventions.
Extension to 2024 of the tax wedge cut, reduction of Irpef rates to three with the merging of the first two, support measures for families with children, resources for the renewal of public contracts , starting with those in the healthcare sector. The main lines of action for the next budget law were illustrated in the last few hours by the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, in the hearing on the Update Note of the Economy and Finance Document in the Budget Commissions of the Senate and Chamber. The measures will be implemented partly at a deficit, with the announced deviation of 15.7 billion, partly with a reduction in spending.
Cutting the tax wedge which, said the Minister “will absorb the resources made available by the budget gap, it is necessary, in light of the recent Istat data which show a worsening of the economic conditions of some segments of the population, it is the government’s main measure. I am proud to have placed a mortgage for the benefit of the workers”.
With the maneuver the reform will be launched tax outlined by the delegation, starting from the reduction of Irpef rates from four to three. A measure that “will lead to a reduction in the tax burden for families, who will be able to benefit from greater disposable income”. As part of the reform “measures will also be envisaged which, in order to address the problem of the birth rate decline, provide support to families with medium and low incomes who have more than two children”.
“The budget law – continued Giorgetti – will start the process of renewing public employment contracts for the three-year period 2022-2024, which will help give confidence to many families, allowingor them to recover part of the purchasing power lost over the last due years. Particular attention will be paid to medical and healthcare personnel, as part of the additional resources that will be allocated by the budget law to the financing of healthcare spending. How much will the budget amount to in total? The Minister gave no indications but he was clear on one fact. clear: “15.7 billion will come from the budget discount”, nothing more. The rest of the coverage will have to be found above all from spending cuts.
“This is a responsible and serious move which also implies a large cut in spending, which there will be. This means – Giorgetti specified – that someone won’t be happy.”
