Manchester Uniteds Mason Greenwood is not involved in the opening

Manchester United say they will hold talks with the club’s women’s team before announcing a decision on Mason Greenwood’s future.

The decision of the Manchester United and England national team footballer by Mason Greenwood The return to the Premier League is delayed. Information about Tieton Greenwood’s playing was to be announced before Monday’s opening game against Wolverhampton.

However, Greenwood’s fate will be revealed later, as on Friday the club’s female fans said they were protesting against Greenwood’s return, reported the BBC.

Greenwood, 21, has been sidelined since January 2022 when he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and battery.

The case became public when Greenwood’s ex-girlfriend shared photos and a video on social media, where she said she was a victim of violence. In February, Greenwood was reportedly cleared of the charges after a key witness withdrew from the case.

Fans protesting Greenwood’s return have created the community “Female Fans Against Greenwood’s Return” and have, among other things, published a long statement in which they list the reasons for opposing the player’s return.

The group is also planning a protest at Manchester United’s home arena outside Old Trafford before Monday’s game.

– We demand that the club has zero tolerance for violence against women and we oppose Mason Greenwood’s return to the team, the group’s statement reads.

Before making a decision, Manchester United wants to consult with all of its key stakeholders, including members of its women’s team, some of whom are currently playing at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

In their statement, the group protesting the return highlighted, among other things, that Greenwood’s return normalizes sexual abuse and violence.

Below is a tweet from the Female Fans Against Greenwood’s Return community statement.

The statement also said that Greenwood’s return tells women involved with the club that only men and players who make money for the club matter – not female fans, mothers, sisters and daughters.

– If you want to play at the highest level in the biggest club in the world, you have to be ready to behave in accordance with expectations and responsibly, the statement said.

There is no word yet on when Greenwood’s case will be resolved. His lawyer did not comment on the planned demonstrations for the BBC.

Greenwood’s contract is valid until June 2025.
