Liverpool and Manchester United put on a great show in a classic Premier League match.
Manchester United went to the English Premier League away match against Liverpool on a streak of three defeats. The team hadn’t scored a single goal in these games, but at snowy Anfield, you could see a composed team.
League leader Liverpool had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the end.
The opening goal had to wait for the second period. Bruno Fernandes said the ManU striker by Lisandro Martinez to the crime scene, and the Argentine was not mistaken.
It wasn’t even a quarter of an inch when Liverpool were already in the lead. First, it was the end of a skillful individual performance Cody Gakpo and a moment later, from the penalty kick, the top name of the goal exchange Mohamed Salah. The goal was already the 18th of the season for the Egyptian.
At the 80th minute, one of the only bright spots in ManU’s season, the youngster Amad Diallo tied the game. In extra time, there were still plenty of quality chances at both ends, but the draw held. In particular, ManU top scorer Harry Maguire got to the top spot in the last seconds in a situation that smelled like offside, but shot over.
There was a threat of cancellation over the local match, as a snowstorm punished Liverpool last night. During the match, it rained in torrents from the sky.
With a draw, Liverpool returned to a six-point league lead, while among the closest threats, Arsenal and Chelsea also remained in draws. The surprise of the season, Nottingham can join Arsenal to within six points of Liverpool if they beat Wolverhampton in their home game on Monday.
With the point, Manchester United rose to 13th place. The team has won only six of the 20 Premier League matches they have played.
Earlier on Sunday, Ipswich was close to victory in their away match against Fulham until the last minute. However, Fulham leveled in extra time by Raul Jimenez with a penalty kick.
The match, which included three penalty kick goals, also ended with a score of 2–2.
