Manchester City are the best in England – again.
The team takes home the Premier League title after Arsenal’s loss.
– It indicates an incredible dominance, says Fotbollkanalen’s columnist Siavoush Fallahi.
Manchester City lift the Premier League title for the third year in a row after sole challengers Arsenal went down 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday night. The result means that City are champions in a blazer and can celebrate even before the last match is played.
Arsenal have topped the table in the English fine room for large parts of the season but the Manchester team was ultimately stronger. The title means that City won the league three years in a row, and a total of nine times. The final against Inter Milan in the Champions League also awaits in June.
The victory for Nottingham Forest also means that the newcomer secures his place in the English top league next season as well. When the referee blew the whistle, there were scenes of joy from Nottingham players and supporters.
“Indicates tremendous dominance”
The title for the Manchester team in blue also means that they have won five of the last six seasons of the Premier League.
– It indicates tremendous dominance, says Siavoush Fallahi and continues:
– But it is a little surprising that they got back, they were in a bad way. They were long behind Arsenal, five to eight points behind just a couple of months ago. The fact that they came back through eleven straight wins is of course impressive, says Siavoush Fallahi, columnist on the Football Channel.
Despite the fact that Arsenal topped the table the most during the season, they must now see themselves defeated. Fallahi is not particularly surprised by the outcome.
– Arsenal, unlike City, do not have enough winners in their squad. They have had some injury problems, and also don’t have as wide a squad. At the same time, coach (Mikel) Arteta’s goal was to get to the Champions League – that they could fight for the league title was unrealistic before the season.
