Jonas Oliver, 27, was wanted on charges including mischief over $5,000, breaking and entering, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm, police said Wednesday. They published a wanted poster with his photo on social media and asked anyone who knew where he was to call them.

In a followup post about noon Thursday, police said Oliver had been arrested and thanked the public for their help.

Hours earlier, Oliver, due in court Thursday for an update on outstanding charges, walked into a Sarnia courtroom and sat down in the first row near several lawyers and the judge.

“He came here knowing there’s a warrant,” defense lawyer Terry Brandon told the judge.

Sarnia police said Wednesday they wanted Jonas Oliver, 27, for several charges including mischief over $5,000, breaking and entering, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm. He surrendered himself at the Sarnia courthouse Thursday morning. (Sarnia police)

Wearing a striped sweater and light blue jean shorts, Oliver was escorted to courthouse cells by security and his $200 lease, granted less than two weeks earlier, was canceled.

But he was released soon after on a new $300 lease plan that bars him from contacting four people and going to four Sarnia addresses. He also must report to the John Howard Society in Sarnia.

Oliver, a general contractor and builder at Aamjiwnaang First Nation, according to his Facebook page, now faces three sets of charges, one from June and two from August. All three of his cases were adjourned to Oct. 17.
