Man tried to force way into Sarnia home: police

A man faces charges after an intruder tried to force his way into a city home Wednesday night, Sarnia police say.

A man knocked then tried to open the front door of a Maxwell Street home about 10 pm New Year’s Day, a police release said.

The homeowner heard the knocking, saw the door handle move and opened the door to see who was outside, police said. The man tried to force his way in, but left on foot after the resident closed the door.

An officer patrolling in the area arrested a suspect, police said.

A man, 39, is charged with breaking and entering, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, police said.

Police encourage residents to keep doors, windows and garages locked, use outdoor lighting and motion-activated lights at night, and consider installing a doorbell camera or home security system.

If you suspect something is wrong, don’t open your door and call 911, police said. Unexpected visits by people offering vague or unfamiliar reasons should be deemed suspicious.

Call 911 if someone refuses to leave your property, or if you see someone loitering or checking doors in the area, police added.

Man charged after ‘upskirt’ photo clash

A Sarnia resident faces charges after women clashed with a man allegedly taking “upskirt” photos at a business, Windsor police say.

Officers responding to a Riverside Drive East business about 3 am learned two women got into an argument with a man they accused of using a cellphone to take photos up one of their dresses, police said.
