A 29-year-old man has been arrested after admitting responsibility for a fire in Johannesburg, South Africa last year, in which 76 people died. The man says he strangled a person in the basement of the apartment building, then set the body on fire to try to hide it his crime.
The man’s confession came unexpectedly while he was giving his evidence to an inquiry into the fire. He was arrested soon after by the police, who suspect him of 76 murders and 120 cases of attempted murder.
