Break-ins reported before Christmas
Separate break-ins, within two km of each other, took place Dec. 20 in Sarnia, says city police.
They happened at Wespencer Gate and Huron Shores Drive, and in both cases someone entered the homes after smashing a pane of glass at the rear of the house, police said.
One home was ransacked but it’s believed returning homeowners scared off the intruders at the other location.
Police said a black crossover-style SVU was seen in the area of one of the incidents.
Police are urging residents to take steps to reduce the threat of break-ins, including making homes appear occupied by using lights and television on timers while away, locking all doors and windows, securing deliveries, avoiding posting on social media about trips and expensive gifts , and reporting suspicious activity to police.
