A man in his 30s allegedly stole spa experiences from Ica Maxi in Uppsala on three occasions during the summer of 2021. Now the man’s trial has been and he is sentenced to two months in prison for his thefts.
According to the surveillance footage that the prosecutor played during the trial, the man should be seen in the area of the self-scanning checkouts. On all occasions, he is seen leaving the store with a shopping cart containing a box with a spa bath, without paying.

Stole spa experiences for almost SEK 18,000
The man allegedly stole the same type of spa bath on three occasions from the store, but denies the crimes. The spa experiences must have a total value of SEK 17,997 including VAT.
However, it is not possible to draw any definite conclusions about the thief’s identity by comparing the man’s appearance during the negotiation with the surveillance footage.
But there are obvious similarities between his appearance and the person in the films, it is stated in the district court’s judgment that News24 took part in.
The person on the surveillance video and the man photographed by the police also wear identical shirts. It therefore strongly suggests that he is the perpetrator.

A person with the same name as the man is said to have also posted hot tubs for sale on Facebook Marketplace days after the thefts.
Which suggests that it is the man who stole a spa bath on three occasions in accordance with the prosecutor’s claims. It is then considered that the prosecutor has presented sufficient evidence for a conviction.

The man was convicted of theft on October 25, 2023, with the penalty of two months in prison. He has until November 25, 2023 to appeal the sentence.
