It was when Andreas Wuchner, then 35, and his business partner were to fly home from London to Zurich in 2017 that the incident occurred.
They had both had to rebook their earlier flight due to traffic. After they made it through security at the airport, it wasn’t long until the flight was due to depart.
Then Wuchner decided to buy two espressos and two macchiatos from Starbucks.
Wanted “real” coffee
While trying to balance the coffee while rushing to the flight, he suddenly slipped in a puddle of Baileys liquor and hit his head hard.
The reason he stopped and bought coffee despite the lack of time was that he wanted “real coffee”.
– I really wanted real coffee from a coffee machine rather than regular airport coffee. That’s why I went to Starbucks, Andreas Wuchner said of his decision, according to The Guardian.
Right to 54 million
Wuchner claims he flew two meters into the air when he slipped in the booze pool, and since then he says he has had recurring headaches.
He has sued British Airways and was upheld by the judge in the case, who believes that Wuchner is entitled to up to SEK 54 million.
This is because the accident could have been avoided if the airline had cleaned up the puddle of alcohol, or alternatively warned that it was there.
British Airways’ lawyer believes in turn that Wuchner himself caused the accident.
