A man in his 30s was arrested on Saturday evening after “burning” and sliding into a crowd during a car meet in Gothenburg. Five people were injured and had to be taken to hospital.
I don’t know exactly how serious it is, but I don’t perceive it as particularly serious. A woman in her 50s is a little more injured than the others, but it is certainly not life-threatening, says Andreas Odén, officer on duty at police region West.
The other injured are a 15-year-old girl, two women in their 20s and a man in their 30s. The driver is said to have fled the scene after the accident but was arrested not long after by the police.
We were able to find out who he was with the help of various information and films and it was an undramatic arrest, says Andreas Odén.
The accident happened at 9 pm on Saturday evening during a car meet at the Bäckebol shopping center in Hisingen. The driver skidded around and the smoke from the tires must have obscured all visibility for the driver and nearby spectators.
The car has “burned” and skidded into the crowd. It was not intentional, says Andreas Odén.
The driver is suspected of grossly causing bodily harm, gross negligence in traffic and contagion from a traffic accident.
