Alarms about loud explosions in central Uppsala were received by the police at 10.25 pm on Tuesday evening.
A man with a gunshot wound was found at the scene. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital with unclear injuries.
A large police operation is underway at the scene. The police have cordoned off the area and are working on investigative measures, including knocking on doors. A technical survey will be carried out.
The crime is classified as attempted murder.
