The police were alerted to a townhouse area in Bohus in Ale municipality at 10.24pm on Thursday.

A 35-year-old man had been shot in his home and was taken to hospital by relatives. The man was treated overnight for life-threatening injuries.

– The damage situation is now stated to be serious but stable this morning, says Fredrik Svedemyr, press spokesperson for the police north of Gothenburg.

According to information given to TV4 Nyheterna, the police have been able to clarify the sequence of events. The shooter allegedly knocked on the victim’s home. When the front door was opened, the man is said to have been shot with a greater number of shots in front of the eyes of at least one relative.

– It was a reckless shooting with the risk of further victims, says a source.

According to TV4 Nyheten’s data, the police must work based on the theory that it is a “misfire”. The person shot is not believed to have been the target.

– Information that has come to the police so far indicates that the perpetrator may have mistaken the person, says the source.

Despite an intensive police operation during the night and morning, no one has yet been arrested for the crime, which is classified as attempted murder and serious weapons offences. According to TV4’s information, one more person is wanted in addition to the shooter.

– Investigators are working on the case, says police spokesperson Hans-Jörgen Ostler.
