The police were alerted about a man who was shouting and acting “upset” in a home in Österängen in Jönköping.
The man then made his way to a wooded area, armed with an attachment.
According to the police, a commotion arose when the police patrol confronted the man, whereupon a police officer was injured.
Another officer then fired at the man who was hit by the gunshot.
The suspected perpetrator and the police have been taken to hospital. The extent of the injuries is unclear, but they are said to have been talkable.
The area is cordoned off and a road has been closed to traffic.
