The suspect, who is in his 25s, was shot in the leg during the police operation and was taken to hospital on Monday. He has not yet been interviewed by the police.
The man is suspected of attempted murder, aggravated weapons offense and causing danger to another after the incident that occurred at 2 p.m. The police were then alerted to the town north of Umeå after a person fired a weapon at a car.

According to the Västerbottens-Kuriren a father and his son were traveling in the car to buy ice cream. For the newspaper, the father tells about the horror journey.
— I thought, this is not happening. We just have to get out of here fast as hell, he says, among other things.
Two shots hit the car, the first of which was later found to have passed centimeters from the son’s head.
According to the prosecutor, there are no known connections between the crime victims and the suspected perpetrator who is not already known to the police. Instead, the circumstances indicate an isolated incident linked to mental illness.
— The theory is that it could have happened to anyone. As soon as you have been able to hold an interrogation with the suspect, you have to decide how to proceed, says the prosecutor Andreas Nyberg to TT.
