Man sentenced for shooting at preschool and restaurant

The gang of friends were on the night of May 18 last year in the yard of a preschool in Rågsved, south of Stockholm.

Suddenly a man armed with a gun appeared and started shooting at the men – who began to run for their lives.

One of them was shot in the back and fell to the ground.

– I have been shot in Rågsved and I am bleeding. I can’t move, I’ve been shot in Rågsved, said the man in the 112 call, and later at the hospital was informed that he had been paralyzed from the waist down.

Executed as he lay down

The shooter then continued to fire at the fleeing gang. Several of them were chased into a fast food restaurant.

There, a young man was shot dead with several shots as he lay down. Another was hit in the foot and survived.

A 20-year-old man was arrested a few hours after the shooting. He was later charged with the murder, and attempted murder of a total of nine other men, two of whom were shot and the six others escaped the bullets.

On Friday, the Södertörn district court’s verdict was handed down against the 20-year-old. Against his denial, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to the law’s most severe penalty, life imprisonment.
