Man rescued in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk – after 67 days

Pictures show a lone figure in a life jacket sitting in a small gray rubber boat in the middle of a black sea. The survivor, according to Russian media a 46-year-old man, is said to have lost half his body weight during the 67 days at sea. He is now receiving treatment.

While adrift, the 46-year-old’s companions – his 49-year-old brother and 15-year-old nephew – died. They were dead in the boat when rescue arrived.

According to Russian media, the trio went out to watch whales in early August. They are said to have had around 20 liters of water and a smaller portion of food with them when the boat’s engine suddenly broke down.
