An Australian man and his dog have been rescued after drifting in the Pacific Ocean for three months. The man, 54-year-old Timothy Shaddock, was on his way from the Mexican city of La Paz to French Polynesia when his boat was damaged in a storm, just a couple of weeks after leaving port.

Shaddock was rescued by a Mexican fishing boat after the crew spotted the drifting boat nearly 2,000 kilometers from the coast. He told Australian media that he and his dog Bella had survived on raw fish and rainwater.

– I have gone through a very difficult ordeal at sea. “I just need to rest and eat good food because I’ve been alone at sea for so long,” a thin and bearded Shaddock told Australian television channel Nine News.

– Otherwise, I am in very good health, he added.

The fishing boat is expected to arrive at the port city of Manzanillo in Mexico on Tuesday.
