MAN OF STEEL 2. The Man of Steel sequel project has officially been confirmed. Henry Cavill himself announced that he would reprise the role of the Kryptonian after his stealth appearance in Black Adam.
[Mis à jour le 24 octobre 2022 à 19h04] It’s now official: Henry Cavill will take back the red cape. Man of Steel 2 is well and truly under construction, the Hollywood Reporter already announced a few days earlier, and the actor who plays Superman himself confirmed on his Instagram account that he was not done with the Kryptonian: “I’m back in the role of Superman. All you’ve seen so far is a first glimpse of what’s to come. But we’ll get to that in due course. Thank you all for your patience, I promise you will will be rewarded.”
If Henry Cavill has not officially pronounced the words of Man of Steel 2, the American media have been talking about the development of the Superman sequel for several days. The Hollywood Reporter had indeed announced that Warner Bros. Discovery wanted to bring Superman back for solo adventures and would be actively looking for a director and screenwriter. The name of director Christopher McQuarrie (Mission Impossible) has even been mentioned.
As a reminder, Henry Cavill had interpreted the vigilante in this first film, in 2013, before returning in Batman v Superman in 2016, then in Justice League. Since then, radio silence, the actor being busy on other sagas (The Witcher, Enola Holmes), while the DCEU seemed to sink following the failure of Justice League. The release of Black Adam, on October 19, 2022, appeared salutary in this respect, since a post-credits scene saw the return of Henry Cavill in the skin of Superman.
