A man in his 20s has died in a drowning accident in the Strömsund Canal in central Piteå. The man was at the canal with a small party on Friday night.
– He was supposed to swim but only managed to swim a short distance and he disappeared below the water surface, says Per Isaksson, rescue chief on standby, to local media.
Survivors, a boat and even a drone were deployed in the search for the man. After a while, he was found at the bottom of the canal at a depth of about two and a half meters. But his life could not be saved.
