  • Man in tent robbed and beaten

    A man was beaten and robbed in his tent in Finspång on Tuesday evening.

    “The target had spent the night outside in a tent and had been robbed of belongings and beaten and abused by several people,” the police write on their website.

    The man had to be taken to hospital with what are described as “clear injuries from severe violence”. The incident is being investigated as aggravated assault.

    A truck is stuck under a viaduct on the E20 in Lerum, reports P4 West. The accident has a major impact on traffic.

  • Searched for colleagues – police employee charged

    A police employee in Skåne is charged with beating two female colleagues in the police’s internal system. Printouts from the searches were later found in a parking lot and the finder mailed the documents to the women concerned, Sydsvenskan reports.

    The finder had also photographed the registration number of the car that was where the documents were. The car turned out to belong to the police employee and was also parked outside a residence belonging to a relative of his.

    The prints are extracts from the police’s register of criminal suspicions, possession of weapons and whether you have been taken into custody for drunkenness. The man denies any wrongdoing and says he believes the finding of the transcripts can be explained by someone else trying to frame him.

  • Ekot: NATO engaged after drone alarm at Arlanda

  • Dogs in violent fight

    The US and UK foreign ministers are visiting Ukraine on Wednesday, and will discuss the use of long-range missiles against targets deep inside Russia. That’s what Politico writes.

    Ukraine has long urged its allies to lift the restrictions on the use of the powerful weapons against Russia that have been in place until now. The US and UK have opposed the use of the weapons out of concern that it would result in a further escalation of the conflict.

    Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress have recently put pressure on the Biden administration to give Ukraine the green light for the long-range missiles against Russia.

    World star Taylor Swift supports Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the US election.

    “I am voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and things that I believe take a warrior to tackle. She is a solid leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are governed by calm and not chaos”.

    Furthermore, Swift writes that she has read up before the presidential election and made her choice, and sends an invitation to all first-time voters.

    “Remember that in order to vote, you must be registered”.

  • Five ate poisoned pesto – treated in a respirator

    Five people are being treated in hospital in France with suspected poisoning, botulism, after eating pesto containing chives.

    According to local authorities, they are conscious but being cared for on ventilators.

    They are suspected of having been poisoned after eating a locally produced pesto sauce called “O P’tits Oignons” during a birthday meal. The sauce is usually sold during local festivities and fairs between March and September.

    Authorities are now trying to locate around 600 cans of the sauce before they end up with consumers.

    Botulism is a rare and serious neurological disease caused by a toxin that causes breathing difficulties, muscle paralysis and in up to ten percent of cases death.

    The poison is one of the strongest known. A “snap glass” of pure botulinum toxin would be enough to kill the entire population of Sweden.

    Eating food contaminated with the poison – usually due to improper food handling – is the most common way to come into contact with the disease.

  • Amazon invests billions in the UK

    The tech giant Amazon is to invest eight billion pounds, equivalent to around SEK 108 billion, in the UK over the next five years, the company announces.

    The announcement is welcome for the country’s new Labor government, which has put economic growth at the center and promised to “rebuild” the country.

    “This £8 billion investment marks the start of the economic recovery and shows that the UK is a place to do business,” Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said in a statement.

    The venture – which involves building and operating data centers within the framework of subsidiary Amazon Web Services – could mean more than 14,000 jobs annually across the supply chain, according to Amazon.

  • Man raped girl – deported

    A man in his 30s is sentenced to just over three years in prison and deportation for the rape of a girl, reports P4 Jämtland.

    The rape occurred at a hotel in Östersund in May this year. In connection with the incident, the affected girl was filmed and photographed, according to Östersunds-Posten.

    The man is convicted of rape against a child. In addition to the prison sentence, he is sentenced to pay damages of SEK 265,000 and deportation from Sweden with a ban on returning.

  • Used nitrous oxide in the car – crashed

    After a wobbly car ride, a man in his 30s crashed into a central guardrail in Hallstahammar last summer.

    The man has said in questioning that he had been awake for several nights, and took nitrous oxide to try to stay awake during the drive home.

    Earlier this year, the Eskilstuna district court sentenced the man to two months in prison for drunk driving and gross negligence in traffic.

    He then appealed – because he did not think the nitrous oxide had anything to do with the accident.

    However, the Court of Appeal did not agree, and upheld the man’s sentence on Tuesday.
