During the night of Sunday, the police and emergency services were called to Landsväg 942 in Kungsbacka after two vehicles collided.
Two people have been involved in the accident, a man in his 80s was unconscious when rescue personnel arrived at the scene.
The man in his 80s was taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries, but his life could not be saved.
The man’s relatives have been notified, the police write on their website.
The other person involved, an 18-year-old man, was checked by paramedics with minor injuries.
The police have launched an investigation into negligence in traffic and seized the vehicles.
