The police were alerted at 19.40 by residents in the area that several explosions had been heard from a wooded area north of Skogsborg. The police sent several patrols to the scene, and encountered a man who had been shot in the leg.
– He was awake and talking, and was taken by ambulance to Västerås hospital, says RLC officer Mats Länn at police region Mitt.
Region Västmanland states in a patient injury report that the man is slightly injured.
No arrests yet
At 9 p.m., the police had not yet arrested any suspects, but are carrying out a major operation with, among other things, two dog units.
– We have cordoned off a crime scene, and will carry out a technical investigation to be able to secure traces, says Mats Länn.
Suspect: Serious assault
The police expect to be able to talk to the shot man during the evening. They also carry out door knocking and hear witnesses.
The criminal suspicions are preliminarily aggravated assault and serious violation of the Weapons Act.
