A man in his 70s has been detained after the police found nine tons of explosives on an industrial site in Haparanda, the police announce.

The explosives have been stored without permission in non-approved areas.

“There has been a risk of burglary and theft of the explosive,” the police write on their website.

The man is on probable grounds, the higher degree of suspicion, suspected of a serious offense against the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods.

The explosives were discovered by the police during an operation on Wednesday last week.
